Hi, I’m Matt Granger. I’ve been meal prepping every Sunday for the last eight years.
I’m 35, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and I am not a chef. I don’t have a culinary degree, a Michelin star, or a perfectly organized spice rack. What I do have is a solid system for getting a week’s worth of healthy, delicious food into containers by Sunday afternoon. That system has changed my life in ways I did not expect.
It started when I was 27. I was working long hours, eating whatever was fast and convenient, spending way more on food than I should have been, and not feeling great about any of it. A coworker mentioned she spent her Sundays prepping meals for the week. I thought it sounded boring. I tried it anyway. By Wednesday of that first week, I had lost four pounds, saved sixty dollars, and eaten better than I had in months. I was completely sold.

From there it became a genuine obsession. I started studying nutrition, not in any formal way, just reading, testing, tracking macros, and figuring out what actually worked for real weight loss and real clean eating on a real budget. I learned which proteins kept me full longest. Which vegetables held up best in containers. How to batch cook grains without them going mushy. How to season things so you actually want to eat the same meal on Thursday that you prepped on Sunday.
The name itself says everything about how I approach cooking. Cook means everything on this site is made from scratch, with real ingredients, in a real kitchen. Plate means how you portion and present your food matters just as much as what goes into it. Meal prep is not just about throwing things in containers and hoping for the best. It is about building plates that are balanced, satisfying, and worth eating again on day five. That two-step idea, cook it and plate it, is the foundation of every recipe you will find here. It is a reminder that healthy eating does not have to be complicated or expensive. You cook it. You plate it. You eat well all week.

Cook and Plate is built around three things I genuinely believe in. Weight loss that actually works, with low-calorie and high-protein recipes that keep you full without misery. Clean eating that is actually affordable, with no $15 superfood powders or specialty store runs. And meal prep that fits real family life, budget-friendly, kid-approved, and ready in 30 minutes or less on a Sunday afternoon.
Every recipe on this site includes macros, calories, cost per serving, and prep time. Healthy eating should never require a nutrition degree or an unlimited grocery budget. I test everything in my Columbus kitchen, usually more than once, until it works on day one and on day five of the week.
If you have ever felt like healthy meal prep was too complicated, too expensive, or too boring to stick with, you are in the right place. I have made every mistake already. The watery containers. The bland Monday lunches. The $200 grocery haul that felt healthy but blew the budget completely. Cook and Plate is the result of eight years of fixing those mistakes, one Sunday at a time.

When I am not in the kitchen, I am usually running trails along the Scioto River, watching Ohio State football with my brother, or testing whether a new meal prep container is actually leakproof. Most are not. I have strong opinions about this.
Thanks for finding Cook and Plate. Let this be the Sunday that changes your week.
